Birthday Girl!

Today is this cute girl's 10th birthday. It is hard to believe that Reagen, my granddaughter is already that old already. It seems like just yesterday that she was born. When she was born she was a tiny little baby and now she has grown into this tall beautiful girl.

Speaking of babies, she also loves them and has already promised to babysit her newest little cousin, Avery, when she gets a few years older. She enjoys getting a little practice now.

Here are a few other cute guys she got to hang out with this weekend, Hunter and Connor. She loves trying to keep up with Connor too.

Here she is with little sister, Faith and friend Sedona.

Happy Birthday Reagen, we all love you!

Drive-In Movie

When was the last time you have been to the drive-in movies? For me it has been...well lets just say a very very long time. Last weekend I was watching my 3 grandkids for the night so Beth and I decided to take them to see the movie "Rio" at the drive in. We picked up some treats, got the kids jammies on, grabbed some blankets and pillows and headed to the movies. We arrived and started to get settled in before the movie started. Here are Thane and Reagen trying to decide just where to get settled in.
Each of the kids had picked out a snack to share with everyone and Grandma brought the popcorn. Everyone got their own little container for all their goodies.

Then it was time for the movie to begin. I tried to take a picture of the movie screen but couldn't get a picture to turn out. Beth and Faith decided to spread a blanket on the ground and sit outside to enjoy the outdoor weather.

Reagen and Thane settled in inside the back of the car. Now that we were all settled in the movie started and we were enjoying watching Rio. It was a real cute movie but about an hour into the movie everything on the screen showed upside down. Took me a minute before I figured out this wasn't a part of the movie. The sound now was also a bunch of mumble jumble that couldn't be understood. Then it was announce that they were having some technical problems and they would have it fixed and going as soon as possible, so we waited...and waited. About a half hour later they announced they were still working on it and then 15 minutes later it was announced that since it was time for the 2nd feature to start they would not be showing the end of Rio. They would gladly give us tickets to come back another time.

The kids were disappointed that they wouldn't see the end of the show. So as Beth went to retreive tickets to return, I got the car all packed back up and got the kids buckled and ready to leave. As Beth returned with the tickets and the rest of us were ready to leave, all of a sudden Rio returned to the screen. Humm...now what to do? We didn't want to unpack it all again so after backing into our space in the beginning we decided to leave everyone in their seats and just turn the car around and watch the end of the movie. The kids were glad to at least watch the out come of the movie. I am sure we missed some between the time it orginally stopped and where it picked up again but at least we found out what happened to Rio. The kids, Beth and I all had a great evening even with the technical difficulties. It did make a late night tho with the delay, here is how we brought the kids home, all sound asleep.

Fun night at the movies and now we have tickets to go back again. YEA! See you at the movies!

The Birthday Trifecta

Have you ever done the birthday trifecta? Neither had I so on my birthday my friend, Terry (she calls herself the "trifecta pro") asked me if I wanted to go to dinner on my birthday and do the trifecta...sure, why not! We met that evening when we both got off work and headed here to the Liberty Market. Liberty Market offers $10 any meal on your birthday, so I showed them my ID and Terry and I both ordered this wonderful pasta/chicken/veggie dish. It cost $12 so mine was just$2...great deal. We sat outdoors and enjoyed the wonderful spring weather we were having and at this yummy meal. We both had about half left over that we boxed up to save for another time (extra meal #1). We then headed across the street to... Joe's BBQ. They also offer $10 off any combination of things that you would want. They have the best lemon cake so we went to the take out window and ordered 2 pieces of cake (1 for now and 1 for later) and a giant baked potatoe with toppings on the side.
No we didn't sit down and eat another meal but we did sit long enough for each of us to have a 1/2 of piece of cake. It is so good. Then we jumped back into the car and headed to Joe's Farm Grill.
If you see a pattern to this it is because all 3 of these eating establishments are owned by the same people and offer these great birthday deals. There at the Farm Grill we stood in a fairly long line but got up front, showed my ID again and ordered a BBq chicken salad that I saved for lunch the next day. Terry is a pro at this! You would think by now 3 freebies would be enough but I had also been told that Krispie Kreme donuts gave out a dozen donuts on your birthday. This trifecta thing was getting under my skin so I decided to give it a try.
Score! On my way home I ran through the Krispie Kreme drive through and they gave me the donuts and didn't even ask to see my ID. Now I am not a hugh fan of Krispie Kreme donuts so those I took to work the next day for all the guys and scored a few more points.
So after about 3 hours and 4 stops I ended up with dinner and dessert and a few things for later. Terry's huband Ken said it wasn't a trifecta, it ended up being a quadfecta. It was alot of fun, thanks Terry! If you would like to read more about the trifecta experience you can go to th pro Terry's blog - Terryandhercrazylife.blogspot.com...just don't believe her when she said I am old as her now...she is MUCH older then me. Humm...now what's for dinner?

Special Quilt

This quilt is a very special quilt for me. First I made it for my sweet little grand neice, Avery, who is just a month old. I wanted to take her picture with it but she was asleep and I didn't want to wake her. But what makes this quilt the most special was that the quilts blocks that I used to make it were made by a dear friend of mine, Linda, who passed away from cancer about 5 years ago. I was lucky enough to get these blocks after her passing from her husband. He has been so kind to all of us that were in a quilt group with Linda and each year at Christmas he parts with some of her quilting stash. She had quite alot because we are still getting some each year. I was lucky enough to get some of her stuff when she was still here too. I always laugh when I think about her. She was a perfectionist and if something was even a stitch off she wouldn't use it. She would just throw it out. I told her I was going to start going through her garbage and after I told her that she begin to give me little thing here and there. Some stuff I would ask her what was wrong with it and she wouldn't even remember. Obviously I am not a perfectionist because I loved getting her cast offs. Now I look at some of the stuff she gave me and I try to find what she thought wasn't perfect...some times I can find something and some times I can't, but I do love to sit and reminise about Linda. So when our cute little Avery arrived I decided it was time to get these blocks out and put together a sweet little quilt for a sweet little baby. I do have to say tho, that some of the blocks that I got had red in them and I pulled them all out so that I could put together a little wall quilt for me to remember Linda by. Linda knew I love the color red and it would probably make her smile to know that I am using all the red blocks for myself. I hope Avery will cherish her quilt as much as I will mine when I get it put together.
Oh and by the way...I found 3 blocks that the pinwheel went the wrong direction and just wouldn't work in the quilt (probably the reason she didn't finish it herself) and I am going to make a small table runner with those. Miss you Linda!

Party, Party!

I have the best family. This next week will be my birthday (Tues.) and no I am not saying how old I am going to be but to celebrate my sister Kathy did a birthday luncheon for the girls in the family. My Mom, sisters, sister in law (same as a sister), nieces, a cousin and daughters came to help me celebrate. We even had a couple of cute little great neices and 2 of my grandsons. My sister Kathy always makes things look so cute. It was raining outside so she cleared out her family room and set a big square table in the middle so that we could all sit together out of the rain and cold. This beautiful table setting is what we arrived to. Kathy makes it so fun. She had a little party favor for each of us under our napkins and 3 guest had fun little prizes tapped to the bottom of their chairs. Here is a picture of the food. We had crosiant rolls, chicken salad and strawberries with best fruit dip. It was all yummy!
ne I had to take a picture of these beautiful flowers and that little plate next to them had some truffles from See's Candy on it. We could pick from a lemon or raspberry truffles and let me tell you they were both good but the lemon ones were definately my favorite.
Here is a picture of our group. I had one neice and baby that had already left. We are so lucky, our family loves to be together. We try to find any reason to get together and have fun. Thanks you guys...love you all!

Party #2

Since Carrie was already in town for Party #1 the girls decided to do our family birthday party today too. Beth went all out with her decorating here at home. I picked Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner and this is how she set it all out. She always makes sure there are flowers on the tables. She loves flowers. These are the goodies we put on top of our haystacks. Here is our table setting. The picture really isn't that good. It looked really cute. It's hard to tell but the center piece was filled with pastel colored eggs and flowers. Great, I will be ready for our Easter get together. I can't leave these out, my favorite cake is Chocolate Coca Cola Cake. It is the best but has a pound of butter, chocolate chips...etc, not the best for you, but oh so good, so we only make it once a year for my birthday. This is the first time we have made it into cupcakes but it worked out great. They were sooo Yummy!

Here is the cute little bunch that came to help Grandma celebrate. I had run to the store and when I arrived home they had balloons and crepe paper streamers decorating the house too. Thanks everyone, it made the day great!
Aren't birthdays wonderful...now if we just didn't have to get another year older to have one!

Happy April!

Hard to believe it is April already. Before you know it we will be hit with the hot summer, so we better enjoy the great weather we are having now. It's time to get the Easter eggs out and get ready for the Easter bunny to visit. Here is my little April quilt. These have been fun to make. This quilt I made for my daughter in law, Julie's birthday. Her birthday was in January but she had hinted that she wanted an Easter quilt to hang on her wall. I looked and I found that I didn't have a pattern that I thought would work so I decided to design my own and this is what I came up with. I actually got it to Julie late but in plenty of time to hang on her wall for this month.

We have several birthdays this month too...humm I wonder who? This is going to be a busy month....Happy April!
